Organic Gelatinised Maca Powder
Maca is a plant which grows naturally at high-altitude, in the Peruvian Andes. For many centuries it has been a central part of local diets in Peru and Bolivia, where almost every part of the plant is used. Also known as “Peruvian Ginseng”, Maca is a nutrition-packed root vegetable, flourishing in environments often 4000m above sea level.
Plants at this harsh altitude have to take in as many nutrients from the ground as possible to survive, hence why Sevenhills Wholefoods source this product for its impressive nutritional content. Our Organic Gelatinised Maca Powder has a ratio of 5:1, so 5kg of the raw root is used to produce 1kg of gelatinised Maca Powder.
Sevenhills Wholefoods source Maca powder including four different Maca Root types, to obtain the finest, broadest range of micronutrients: red, yellow, purple and black roots. The primary source is the yellow variety which makes up approximately 70%, with the remainder being made of the other 3 in varying proportions.
Maca has a high starch content, which some regard as an inhibitor to the digestion of the product. For this reason, we offer this gelatinised powder. Gelatinisation is a process of gentle hydration and heating of the raw product, which breaks down the starch molecules, promoting its easier digestion and bio-availability of other nutrients in Maca. The result is a product formed into a different and more digestible state, whose nutrition is easy to absorb. We then mill into a fine powder.
- A complete protein, Maca provides 19 amino acids, 4 different alkaloids, 20 different fatty acids.
- Micronutrients include an abundance of Calcium and an assortment of vitamins including C, E, B1 and B2.
- In addition to Maca’s antioxidant content, keeping the body’s cells free from oxidative stress damage.
- It is a popular adaptogen, known to maintain our skin, nervous and immune systems, and psychological function healthy, as well as helping to keep tiredness and fatigue at bay.
This product does not contain any substances causing allergies (Directive 2007/68/EC) as or intolerances as ingredients or by the possibility of cross-contamination. No colours, binders, fillers or preservatives added. Certified organic by the Soil Association and registered by the Vegan society.

Clearly very good quality. Just could not find any way to dilute the strong and (for me) very unpleasant taste. Tried all sorts of ways. More than half a bag sat in the cupboard which will end up in the trash. But as I say. Clearly a very good quality extract and powder.
Organic Gelatinised Maca Powder
Strange smell upon opening. Didn’t smell or taste like you’d expect. Not as ‘Earthy’ and nutty as previous batch. Disappointing.
Good so far: only two weeks in. But like the taste.
Arrived quickly. Premium quality . Very pleased . Thank you.
I think I am happy with this product......
If you have a pain and take pain killer and the pain goes away you know it is working. But when you use a supplement it is not so easy to determine if it is working and that is how I feel about Maca. So what do I do, I do best the best I can to find the best product from a good supplier at a reasonable cost and take it from there. Does it improve my health - maybe. The bottom line is that if you are in the market then you may as well give this one a try. I have been taking it for a long time and would not go anywhere else. I use a cocktail shaker and 100% Pineapply juice with a teaspoon of Maca in the morning once a day.
