Black currant, (Ribes nigrum), also spelled blackcurrant and sometimes referred to as cassis, are a species of currant within the Grossulariaceae shrub family grown for these edible, dark purple fruits. Freeze-dried Blackcurrant Powder is derived from fresh blackcurrants that are deep frozen, freeze dried and then ground. The finely ground powder is a convenient form of the nutritious currant, rich in antioxidants and other nutrients.
Our freeze-dried blackcurrant powder goes through a specialist freeze-drying and production process ensuring the fragrance of the fruit and the nutrient content is preserved. Our blackcurrant powder is purple/dark pink in colour with some of the natural seeds retained from the pulp of the currant.
