Judge comments:

"The judges found this coarsely-milled hemp seed and husk appealing. It is lightly coloured with a clean fresh aroma. The taste is light and clean, with some sweet notes and a creamy long finish. Creamy texture with a gentle bite. Delicious, the judges would be happy to have this on porridge, over yogurt or as a dip or coating.

These seeds are inviting visually, with various hues from the shelled seeds and a consistent texture. On the palate they were buttery in mouthfeel and rich in flavour: we appreciated this especially as they were unseasoned and untoasted. We could imagine multitudinous uses in the kitchen.

These tiny shelled seeds have a speckled appearance from the small residue of shell. The flavour is remarkablly nutty and rich for such a plain-looking seed. They are surprisingly delicious, with a pleasant depth of flavour and texture."

Organic Shelled Hemp Seeds

Hemp is a plant, which grows naturally in many temperate climates across the globe. Historically, the seed has been harnessed by a variety of cultures, including ancient Indians, Mesopotamians, Sumerians, Persians, Egyptians and indigenous tribes of Central America for an assortment of uses since the Stone Age.

Recently, however, the seed has gained a reputation as a remarkable Superfood, not only full of rich, nutty flavour but also boasting a diverse range of nutrients. Processing:

The seeds are harvested from the plant and cleaned. They are then de-stoned and de-hulled before being magnetically sorted to ensure no foreign bodies end up in the final pouch.
