Ordered for protein shakes

I ordered this Husk Powder to add a bit of fibre to my protein shakes - I take two per day and have found I'm not 'moving and a grooving' like I should be.The powder is super fine, almost as fine as chalk - when mixed with my protein drink it thickens it up slightly and although I couldn't say it improves it I can say it doesn't really take anything away. Occasionally there are globs of unmixed powder (which after mixing is a bit gummy) in the mix but they are very small and that's more a reflection of how much effort I have put into mixing. When mixing with my protein powder - a tablespoon per drink - it doesn't alter the taste at all but I think I it would be fair to say it 'mutes' it.In summary, I'm really happy with this husk powder - each tablespoon adds almost 10g of soluble fibre to my diet and other essentials vitamins and minerals.I'm happy with the quality and this large bag should last me a while, even having to spoons per day.

So much to do, so little time
A very versatile ingredient from a trusted company

This Organic Psyllium Husk Powder from Sevenhills Wholefoods does exactly what it's supposed to do. It's a very fine powder that dissolved quickly and easily when I added it to cold water and gave it a stir for a few seconds. I am confident that it will perform well both as a supplement and in baking. A little goes a long way, so 400g will last quite a while. The batch I've received has a long BestBefore date of July 2027.My only negative comment is that the bag that this 400g of Sevenhills Wholefoods Organic Psyllium Husk Powder comes in is far, far too big. I think it could easily hold more than twice the amount. This makes it very inconvenient both for storage and for accessing the powder, I will need to transfer it into a smaller container to make scooping it out easier.Given that these bags are not typically collected with your kerbside recycling (it relies on you taking it to a supermarket for disposal), I suspect there are an awful lot of these bags ending up in the general landfill. The bag size is my only reason for giving four star review instead of the full five stars.

I will buy in the future, when I need more.

I was pleased to try this 'Seven hills Wholefoods Organic Psyllium Husks Powder 200g'. I have used a teaspoon of organic psyllium husks, mixed in with my plain yogurt and a handful of blueberries, daily for quite a few years. This one is a powder though, which I have not had before. You get 200 grams of the light creamy coloured Psyllium in a resealable pouch that has lots of details printed, including a couple of recipes. I was surprised by how fine the powder actually is. I am used to small floaty flakes, that obviously have air between them in the teaspoonful I use. Therefore I have taken to using just a half spoon of this powder because I think that will be about the same amount to what I am used to. There is no smell to the product and the taste is just very slightly biscuit like, without the sweetness. Mixed into my yogurt, it thickens it nicely and gives it all a better and more substantial texture. On the pouch, it suggests you use to thicken sauces, which I haven't tried, however I definitely will. It will be better for me, being diabetic, than using a small amount of cornflour that has a higher carb content. The main recipe is for making bread where you use one tablespoon along with gluten free flour, baking powder and warm water - sounds good, although I do not eat bread. I will try for other family members though. The current price is good value for money, in my opinion and at just a small amount per day should last me a long time. I will buy in the future, when I need more.

Quality psyllium husk powder

This is a really excellent quality psyllium husk powder. It is finely milled and flavourless which makes it easy to add smoothies, bakes or oatmeal. You do have to be careful not to add too much as it does affect the texture, it acts as a thickener. It has to be blended well if you are mixing it with liquid as it tends to clump.I appreciate that it is a natural organic product and that it has been lab tested to ensure its purity. I find it very effective in ensuring a healthy and regular digestive system, thanks to its high fibre content. I think it is good value considering the quality, I would happily recommend it :)

As perfect as psyllium powder gets!

I've been using psyllium husks and psyllium husk powder for several years now, and have to say that this Sevenhills product is the best powder form I've had to date. The powder is very fine and free-flowing, and mixes pretty well in drinks (psyllium powder is notorious for "clumping" in liquids) although I confess I have it in a smoothie made with a blender and not just stirred in with a spoon.Previous powder versions have tasted "blah!", but this one does not - it blends in well and adds to the rounded flavour overall. It is high in fibre and contributes to a low-carb diet and good gut health ("good" gut microbes love fibre and a healthy gut microbiome is apparently really good for overall health . . .. . but, of course, psyllium alone won't cure illness!)The powder comes in a resealable storage bag, but I prefer to store it in an air-tight jar for easier spooning-outReally good quality product, and I'm very happy to recommend it.

Good for gluten free baking

My primary goal here was to find an alternative product to flour so I could avoid Gluten. It’s a tough task as there isn’t much out there that performs as well as flour but this powder does a pretty good job.I’ve used this powder mainly for baking, and it’s been a great addition - especially for gluten-free recipes. It works really well as a binding agent, helping give dough a bit more structure and elasticity, which can be hard to achieve otherwise.I’ve used it in breads and rolls, and it definitely improves the texture, making them less crumbly and more “bread-like.” You don’t need much either, so it goes a long way.The only thing to watch is how quickly it absorbs water - it thickens fast, so you need to follow measurements fairly closely. Overall, it’s a really useful ingredient if you’re into gluten-free or alternative baking.

Very fine powder. Effective thickener.

This is a very fine powder, and quite different to the usual organic husk that I buy. The review photo shows the powder on the left compared to more typical husk on the right. Psyllium definitely has a flavour, albeit mild, and the flavour of this is reassuringly the same as the coarser variety that I use. The listing claiming that it is flavourless is incorrect in my opinion, though when combined with other flavours, such as fruit, greek yoghurt plus kefir and almond extract, it’s largely or completely obscured.I added a small amount (around one third of a teaspoon) to a Thai sauce I was making, and it thickened surprisingly effectively; more so than corn starch. The sauce went slightly gooey and gelatinous, which was a bit odd, but perfectly fine. I also added some to water to test for clumping, and it mixed well in my test. Mixing with warm liquid can in general work better than cold for powders, but it’s best not to mix with boiling water as that can lead to clumps.Studies finding that psyllium husk, including organic varieties, are often excessively contaminated with heavy metals is concerning, however if the claims of lab testing for this product are genuine then that is reassuring. I could not find any links on the company website to verify the claims made though.Overall this seems to be a decent product and is reasonably priced.

Great for low carb baking, mixes well and does the job

I’ve been using this psyllium husk powder for low carb bread and it works exactly how I need it to. The texture is very fine, so it mixes easily without clumping too much, and it gives that proper structure you want in low carb baking. It thickens quickly when mixed with water, so you can tell it’s good quality. My bread comes out holding together well rather than crumbly, which is usually the issue with low carb recipes. One thing to be aware of is it absorbs a lot of liquid, so you do need to get your ratios right or it can turn a bit too dense. Once you get used to it though, it’s very consistent.Overall, really happy with it and I’ll keep using it for baking.

A rather fine powder

Apart from being a fine powder. Making it a little easier to mix in to foods and drinks. This product otherwise shares similar benefits & uses to the whole husk version. The amount of fibre and nutrient content does however differ between them.An excellent product to use as a thickening agent for foods and drinks. With minimal to zero effect on the flavour. In my opinion they have a rather bland taste to them, so just ever so slightly weaken the flavour of a drink or food. While providing additional soluble fibre and vitamins & minerals to my diet.Being a fibre product, it is essential to consume adequate amounts of water per day.I mainly add servings to my protein shakes. Where it helps create a thicker shake with the protein powder and water. Mixing is straightforward in a protein shaker bottle.A recipe suggestion is given on the back of the pouch.Supplied in a resealable pouch with an initial tear/cut to open top for security and freshness. No adverse side effects experienced from consuming these psyllium husks.Ordered during April 2026. When priced at £13.99 for a 400g pouch. A batch number and a best before date of 01/07/2028 is present on the rear of the pouch. A long shelf life for the received item. An alternative to using chia seeds.

A Great Vegan Jelly Alternative—Watch Your Prep Method!

A Great Vegan Jelly Alternative—Watch Your Prep Method! If you are looking for a plant-based alternative to gelatin, this organic psyllium husk powder works exceptionally well for making a quick "vegan jelly." The results are delicious, but the order of operations is vital to getting the right texture. The Perfect ConsistencyWhen mixed correctly, the powder transforms fruit juice into a thick, honey-like jelly consistency. It’s a fantastic way to make a quick dessert or snack using whatever fruit juice you already have in the house.Avoid the ClumpsThe secret to success is in the mixing process:The Right Way: Pour your fruit juice into the bowl first, then add the powder very gradually while stirring constantly. The Wrong Way: Do not put the powder in the bowl first and then pour juice over it. Even for the sake of a photo (as I tested), this causes the powder to clump immediately and ruins the smooth texture.Final VerdictThe quality of this powder is excellent—it’s fine and reacts quickly with liquid. As long as you are patient with the stirring and add the powder a little at a time, you get a lovely, thick jelly that is completely vegan-friendly. It’s a versatile staple for any plant-based pantry.

Has a clear and noticeable effect. Improves my digestion and seems high quality.

The 200g pouch is self sealing which works well and it's big enough to get the contents out easily. I love the fact that it's clean and natural organic psyllium husk powder with nothing else added to it and that it's 99% pure.Brilliant soluble fibre source for helping to keep the digestive system in good order. I use it every day, and it works wonders at keeping everything running smoothly. This is always my preferred choice not only for purity but also for effectiveness.I don't mind the taste which is very subtle and hardly noticeable, so I dissolve a small teaspoon of powder into 250ml which is just over 8oz, of water. It mixes quickly and easily into a thin gel like consistency.I think it's best to drink immediately as the longer you leave it the thicker it gets. You can take more, but I find that amount perfect for me. It's a good idea to step up your liquid intake throughout the day. It can also be dissolved in juice or smoothies.I also like its versatility as it can be used in baking recipes, to make bread or to thicken sauces. You are even given a handy recipe on the back of the packet. The colour is consistent, and I think it's good value for the size. Overall, I'm very happy with it.

fine smooth powdered psyllium husk that doesn't change taste or texture of breakfast muesli.

fine smooth powdered psyllium husk that we add to our breakfast muesli. It is easy to mix in, and we don't find it makes any difference to the taste or texture when we are eating breakfast. We started with a tiny amount and now add about 1 flat teaspoon and stir it in well. It seems to make a difference for more stable digestion for us. We will keep using it.Psyllium husk is recommended in general as an excellent source of fibre to improve digestion, absorb water, reduce cholesterol and can relieve constipation. It also acts as a prebiotic, feeding healthy gut bacteria, and helps manage symptoms of Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS). But start slowly with just a little bit and gradually build up to 1 teaspoon to avoid gas and bloating.

Here's what you need

This is a great product. If you are going to use it as a supplement rather than for cooking, here's what you need for the best results.1) A teaspoon measure for accuracy.2) A whisk to mix - A small cocktail whisk is fine. Recently I've been using a battery coffee whisk with 'dough-hook' looking attachment. This is a fine powder; A spoon or a fork isn't going to cut it.3) Ice-cold water from the fridge. This is the most important step as it stops the husk from thickening before you drink it. If you don't like the taste, try a sugar-free flavoured water or a bit of squash. TBH with ice-cold water, you don't taste anything. For the record I use 2 teaspoons, 30 minutes before eating. Drink it then chase it down with another glass of water. It's a shame some people haven't bothered to experiment before "binning it", but have plenty of time to bash out a negative review.

Very fine powder, gels quickly, best used in baking

This is milled very fine, closer to flour than to the coarser husk you usually get. Mixed into water it thickens within a minute so it has to be drunk straight away, left any longer it sets into a gel. It has almost no taste, very slightly earthy.I use it mainly in low carb bread where it binds the loaf together and gives a softer crumb. It doesn't discolour the bread. A tablespoon is enough for a loaf so the 200g bag lasts a long time. The bag is a flat resealable pouch. The powder is dusty and light so it drifts when you scoop it. No lumps, consistent throughout. Good effectiveness for fibre intake and no side effects or bad digestion. Good value for money.
